Learning guitar – mistakes players make and ways to avoid them

There are numerous ways in learning guitar – however, it is not a piece of cake. There are so many people who can play the guitar but only a few people can play really well. Other people quits after just one month-worth of lessons. If you are contemplating on putting a stop in your ambition to be a rock star – you are not the only one—the best news is that, you don’t have to!

If you’re thinking you are the only person who can’t seem to progress in learning guitar, think again!  Beginners commit some frequent mistakes which can lead into bad habits. Here are the most important mistakes to avoid:

Not enough practice.  You may find it nagging to hear but, practice makes perfect. The adage has been proven countless time. If you are learning guitar, whatever the mode of learning you have chosen, you must practice a little more time and a little harder. Make a schedule and be sure to follow it, do not allow any excuses. In the beginning, do not practice for too many hours, allow time to rest and recuperate from your hard work. If you don’t have enough stamina, you may suffer from wrist inflammation or tendonitis which will further delay your progress.

Unsure of the specific genre to play. For a beginner, you need to know what kind of songs you wanted to master first. You cannot be the jack of all trades and the master of none. How can you or your instructor build up an efficient and exact guitar training strategy unless your goals are precise? It’s no question that you can improve without a strategy, but it will take more time and frustration. You can always change genre later if you want to play something instead.

Using numerous sources of information. Internet, books, DVDs – the list goes on. Distraction is one of the major reasons why many guitar players who are actively learning, do not make progress. They have so many things on their hands – different resources, instructors, videos, online guitar lessons, you keep on starting over and over again rather than moving forward. Stick with one source, and then move on to the next. This will help you take note if the certain lesson worked well with you.

Insufficient finger strength. Playing the guitar frequently result to painful fingers because of the pulling of strings in a tough manner. This causes most players to just put down their instruments and quit. This could be a big mistake if you are one of those who gave up, you should understand that painful finger muscles are just a part of your fingers getting used to pulling the chords.

Never give up. To say that learning guitar is impossible is a big mistake! You should have a positive attitude so that you will never feel tired in learning. Attack the challenge head on and you will find that anything is possible. A little determination and perseverance can go a long way in learning guitar.
